The writing is lovely but the story is not compelling. At least not early on.Tihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00926060806244061354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-243923798905252664.post-81528121886127505462013-01-02T06:01:30.557-08:002013-01-02T06:01:30.557-08:00That's helpful. I'm looking forward to more in 2013. There were a couple of parts that I was worried would get too detailed, but they didn't...ended up being an interesting comparison between generations. There was so much to like though...it was cozy and sweet while at the same time contemplative and heartbreaking. I read a great review on another blog. I'll be glad to hear what you think of it. Excessive metaphor usage was one of the main things that bugged me...the writing was unpolished and I didn't connect with the story or characters. Disappointing, since I enjoy the time period. I know many people that enjoyed it, though.

Hope your reading year gets off to a good start!Melodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08151339860580266808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-243923798905252664.post-26163026135562240682013-01-01T13:56:17.347-08:002013-01-01T13:56:17.347-08:00I've wanted to read Rules of Civility for some...I've wanted to read Rules of Civility for some time now, but if you say it was kind of "meh" I'll give it a thought.

Happy New Year, Melody!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
